A legislator in Illinois got angry at her cell phone company because her phone stopped working repeatedly and demanded the company donate more to her campaign, no wait! It's in another state where legislators are still public servants, so she wrote a bill which would allow someone to return a lemon law phone or upgrade without extending their contract. Here is the Chicago Tribune story. This is the kind of populist idea that gets people who never grasped the Marble Cake idea of federalism. We should do more of that. Maybe Mike "Opportunistic" Jacobs will want to take a crack next session.

and send to anyone who needs to be reminded of who they work for.
Or better yet, printed balloons, imagine a receiving a balloon bouquet that said "opportunist of the day". Clearly e-mail and phone calls are not enough we need to get creative.
2008 is going to be a major freak show under the gold dome. Hate, smugness and desperation are not pretty when on display. I feel sure we will be treated to endless mooning of the public.
A friend of mine (in Florida), had a lemon phone. After repeated attempts to resolve the problem with no response, he stopped paying the bill. Bad idea. The cell phone company sued him and he lost. I just emailed him to find out what the whole mess cost him and who the cell phone company was.
OK, this was his outcome. I thought they sued him, but apparently not. He writes:
"It was A T & T and they turned me over for collection giving me no "day in court". I have not paid the charges and it remains as a disputed item on my credit reports."
I love the Opportunist of the Day balloon bouquet. I'll give money for that. Heheh.
