Just say no to right wing media.
I don't know about you, but one of the questions around our house lately has been: What is this politico.com and why are they everywhere all of a sudden? Salon.com's Glenn Greenwald has a couple of recent reports about just who is behind Politico and what it means:
A Glimpse at Versailles, May 5, 2007. Wherein we learn of GOP debate night and Tom Selleck, Chris Matthews, and Nancy Reagan.
The Politico: Exhibit A for our broken political press, May 3, 2007. In which Mr Greenwald reminds us of Politico's apparent priorities (hint: haircuts not Iraq).
Sure, I realize that Salon may be feeling the heat from politico.com, and that criticizing the competition is sometimes good business. But, the fact is, the leadership at Politico is decidedly partisan and it's evident in their reporting.

To Howard Dean;
I'm from Massachusetts and now live in Florida. You, Kerry and Kennedy have really missed a golden opportunity. In your "rush to win" you have backed the wrong horse. Clinton is who would have won in spite of the polls. I will in no way vote for Obama. He is NOT ready. He should have been Clinton's V.P. then we would rule the White House for 16yrs. Since I am a Florida Democrat and you have decided my voted is not worth anything, I am withdrawing from the party. My voting choices for President are Clinton, McCain or "No Vote". (which by the way if you look at Obama's voting record, NV is his favorite.) And "NO', I will not support him if Clinton is the V.P. He would just cherry pick her ideas anyway. Sorry you guys just don't get it. We at work (about 10 of us, so far) are all going to withdraw depending on what happens after Texas, Ohio and Penn. Give the "V" to Hillary for Florida and I might stay. Or call my bluff. I'm a 51 yr old w/m making 40K
When all is said and done in the primary process, we - PARTY DEMOCRATS - come together to work for the Democratic candidate. Quite frankly, we vote the party platform.
This whining of 'leaving the party' by supporters of both Clinton and Obama is at best selfish and at its worst detremental to our country.
I guess you would rather have judges like Scalia, Alito and Roberts appointed at all leaves of the judicial system.
The ideas and voting memes fall flat and I welcome a debate any time on the proven record of Sen. Obama .
As for Florida..they broke the rules. Ironically, if you would have voted on Feb 5 or 12, you would have had a real say in the election. BTW I'm a 42 yr old white male navy vet.
politico is partisan so is slate and salon
One thing that bothers me about this is that politico seems to have become the go-to guys for political commentary at CNN. In theory, I can see the motivation; a level of deniability for CNN when it comes to bias charges, and a chance for the newsreaders to maintain at least the appearance of objectivity. But by hiring hacks like politico they just tarnish the whole network. It's an exercise on obscuring oversight, much like the Pentagon using Blackwater for certain functions. Cheney probably has a whole department called the Office of Oversight Obscurity. They buy shredders by the truckload. There's the Email Eraser Team. The Signing Statement Squad, and maybe more.
