Immigration Bill is back in play
And you thought it was dead. Silly wabbit.
Senators to revive immigration bill, from AP, via Yahoo News:
Senate leaders agreed Thursday night to revive stalled immigration legislation, capping a furious weeklong rescue attempt that drew President Bush’s personal involvement. “The leaders have agreed on a way forward,” said Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.The measure, sidetracked a week ago, is expected to return to the Senate floor for additional debate as early as next week. The legislation has generated intense controversy, particularly for provisions envisioning eventual citizenship for many of the estimated 12 million immigrants now in the country unlawfully. The bill also calls for greater border security and a crackdown on the hiring of illegal employees.

I bet Cardwell is praying Saxby will vote for it.
I bet Cardwell is praying Saxby will vote for it. What he may do is vote to end debate on the issue and then vote against it when it reaches the floor.
Last night immigration wasn’t on Cardboards mind, just hating on PACS. Oh and being our “friend” in Washington, except he kept refering to it as “your” government,, um er.. isn’t it “our” government? Aren’t you wanting to join my government? Oy it was such as disconnect.
His best stump speech was at the Cobb Breakfast.
Oh and did he go to Catholic school? Cause he’s all about the uniform. Three events in 6 days, same blue shirt, same red tie. Now last night he changed up and added a blue blazer. WOW the trendiness, stop the presses call WWD.
Cardwell was ::yawn:: bland as white rice last night. A wise woman I know opined:
If he won’t accept PAC money, will he attend PAC events?
And another person noticed the union bug on his printed piece (which looked like a family-photo holiday card BTW) and wondered how he reconciled that…
How he reconciled that? I am not sure what you mean.
I talked to one of the guys with him who gave me a business card that said something about estate planning, and asked the guy if he was working for the candidate. He said Cardwell had done some work, PR I guess, for the firm and that “Actually, he works for me.” I know everybody works for somebody, but I think he might be wise to find another way to say that.
called both our Senators at lunch about this.
Johnnys trying to figure out how to make himslef look the best with his votes.
Saxby Shameless’ office seemed apathetic.
I don’t know who this Cardwell is, but I’d like to discuss this immigration bill anyway.
Here’s my take on it after reading the article. This bill is stupid. We don’t need $4.4 billion to better our border security. We don’t need an amnesty program either. There are too many Americans looking for work, and those of us who have work are watching our incomes decline. Republicans love the ol’ addage, “we need immigrants to do the work that Americans won’t do.” Horse-shit. It’s more like the work that Americans CAN’T do for the pittance offered to do the work, and they know it.
So, how do we get a handle on all the illegals? Easy – take away the reason they’re risking life and limb to come over here – money! Just start enforcing the fucking immmigraton laws and bust the employers! You don’t need all that other crap in the bill. If you start busting Walmarts, big farms, construction firms (who are likely employing illegals with our tax dollars), etc. then you’re not going to be able to stop the illegals from leaving!
The job of enforcing immigration lies squarely on the President. But Bush doesn’t want to do this because he hates the middle class and he hates US labor. To his people, labor is just a high cost nuisance that gets in the way of their profits. There’s only one group of Americans that love illegal immigrants – US employers. Why pay an American social security, helath insurance, and other payroll taxes when they can get an illegal to do it?
