Bill Shipp's new column, Obama should run money table in the South, is a pretty interesting glimpse of the funding figures here in Georgia. Surprisingly (at least to me), Obama is in the lead, having raised $471,271 around the state. In second place is Edwards, with $376,845, primarily from the metro counties. In third is Hillary, with the low amount of $81,926. What does this mean, according to Shipp?
Translation: Obama blows the socks off his Democratic rivals in Georgia because he has attracted a solid wall of affluent African-American support. Georgia's Super-Duper Tuesday presidential primary is still seven months away, and trends may shift. But didn't Barnes teach us that money doesn't win elections? But barring a dramatic change in circumstances, Obama figures to win Georgia in a breeze.

that's what 930k in total? The money train from Georgia has barely left the station. And yeah, that's probably going to be the primary finish here: Obama, Edwards, Clinton.
But why write this now? You are going to have quarterlies books closed in 3 days and the campaigns will probably give the cover sheet to the press shortly after that. Weird.
Maybe he wants Clinton, Biden and Richardson fans to see how far behind their candidate is so they'll start giving money within the next few days and have a stronger showing?
Ok, maybe not.
I'm liking Edwards more and more these days. I think he's out in front on the main issues destroying the middle class - health care (single-payer, universal), taxing the rich, and foreign trade policies. I also like the fact that he (and Obama) are refusing lobbyist donations.
He must have said something about straightening out media consolidation because they are coming at him, aren't they?
Elitist,
You're right, I'm sorry. I must have missed the posts on immigration, Grady, Iraq, Lebanon, election reform, energy, health care, etc.
Oh wait, there aren't any.
Learn to take a little criticsm, Senior Sensitive.
And besides, wtf you got against Kucinich?

SS.. as loath as I am to comment on your snark, please remember this is a blog owned an opperate by volunteers. Who are under no obligation to entertain you.
It's summer,it's hot we all have a million things to do and nowhere on my "to-do" list does it say worry about informing you to your liking.
Like the drill sargent said in Stripes, "lighten up Francis".
SuperSteve,
If you would like to guest post on Blog for Democracy please email me and we'll see what we can do.
We try to cover topics of interest to our readers. I'm sorry we've let you down.
FYI - when we do post on meaty subjects such as you've suggested (which we have - perhaps not as frequently as would satisfy you - but we have) it does not generate much discussion or many comments.
Now, before you jump on me, I'll say that no, we don't write posts just to get comments and discussion going. But, we do have an audience and if they are not interested in some subjects, then we are less likely to post on them. Surely you understand that?
But, in any event, email me (from the link to your left) if you're not seeing something you'd like to see here.
Clinton led in the only poll I can find. As MOTS said, we'll have a better idea about the money in a week or two.
