The Political Brain - Tonight!

icon_book.gifMeet the Author!

One of the highlights of the recent Take Back America Conference in DC was meeting Drew Westen, a professor at Emory who's just published a new book titled The Political Brain, The Role of Emotion in Deciding The Fate of the Nation.

Isn't it funny how sometimes you have to travel hundreds of miles to discover what's in your own backyard? It's like Oz bay-bee.

Drew was a last minute addition to the schedule, but he had everyone buzzing at the conference. As luck would have it, you can meet him this Monday at Manuel's Tavern for a book signing event.

WHO: Drew Westen, Emory University professor of psychology and psychiatry

WHAT: Presentation and Book Signing for "The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation." Free and open to the public.

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 25 (Tonight!)

WHERE: Manuel's Tavern, 602 N. Highland Ave. (at the corner of North Ave.), Atlanta

I know next week is pretty crazy with Pride and the US Social Forum, so if his schedule allows, Georgia for Democracy will host another signing event for him later in the Summer. Having just seen his presentation, I promise you'll be blown away.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean said, "Drew Westen is a must read and must hear for all Democrats who want to win. In 2008 we will win the presidency if our candidate reads and acts on this book."

High praise indeed.

And a Michgan man! Cool.

Sounds interesting

I tried to get this book yesterday, but the local B. Dalton's didn't have it in stock. Wish I could have made it to the book signing yesterday, but we had the local (fireworks) party meeting at the same time, oh well. Hope I can make it to see him in person this sumer. We need get more research into this topic and not just take it for granted that "there are some rules that don't change..." Yeah, until there's new information that indicates the old rules may be wrong or incomplete, at least that's the way I thought it worked.

Dale Cardboard is a bigger Dem than this dude.
