Marchers from around the world kick-off event.

Atlanta Progressive News has a full story on the first day of the much-anticipated US Social Forum. Crowd size estimates differ but it sounds like between 1500-3000 gathered for the opening march yesterday afternoon:

(APN) ATLANTA - Thousands of progressive activists from around the US and the World marched through Downtown Atlanta on the first day of the US Social Forum.

Did you go? How was it?

I listened to some of the coverage on WRFG last evening, sounded like everyone was energized.

The TV coverage however focused a lot on the Police Response.. But they also showed Dr. Lowery a whole bunch too.His quotes were wonderful. I could listen to him read the back of a toothpaste tube and be interested..

I had to come downtown for a deposition today. People everywhere. Tons of them. I ran into a Vanderbilt college dem with an awesome t'shirt over at the Chic-Fil-A line. On the front it said "Democrats are Sexy" and on the back it said "Have you ever heard of a great piece of elephant?" I think that would be an awesome button.
