Wednesday Open Thread

icon_tangle.gifHillary gets an A- for the video intro, and a D for the horrifying song selection.

They get Mike Jacobs, but lose Mayor Bloomberg. I'm pretty sure that's a net loss.

Reasons to think twice before grabbing a bottle of water.

Furries and an Escalade. What more needs to be said?

  • Republican State Treasurer Cokehead in SC is soo busted..

State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel was indicted on federal drug charges Tuesday and was suspended from office by Gov. Mark Sanford.

Ravenel, 44, and Michael L. Miller of Mount Pleasant are charged with one count each of conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute cocaine.

The S.C. Democratic Party said Ravenel was an “embarrassment.” “In only a few months, Thomas Ravenel has gone from spoiled, rich kid buying his way into office to common street criminal,” Democratic chairwoman Carol Khare Fowler said.

Ravenel also was a state director for Rudy Giuliani’s 2008 the GOP presidential bid. The Giuliani campaign said Tuesday Ravenel had left the campaign.

  • We were driving through Tennessee early Monday morning as the Bonnaroo concert goers were leaving. TSP cars were everywhere. We saw a red SUV and a tie-dye shirt flew off the top of it. Two cars ahead of it was a blue SUV, its driver also forgot and left something valuable on the roof. As he got on the expressway, his BONG flew off the top of his roof. With four hours sleep between the two of us over a 24 hour period, our tempers were a little short, but the good laugh put us all in a better mood.

  • The intro video was so awesome it made me forget about Celine Dion. But I guess we'll have to live with hearing that crap for the next year.

  • I am just saying, it might have been a better idea to pick a song by an American artist. Preferably Beyonce. Or Bryan Adams.

  • LOL...perhaps "Everything I Do, I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams? :) I think most Americans probably don't understand that Ms. Dion is a Canadian.

The song is certainly no "Don' Stop Thinking About Tomorrow". I'm not sure I get why it's a theme song.

  • She should have gone with an Aretha Franklin song!

    R E S P E C T...

Or if nothing else, the Aretha/Annie Lennox, "Sisters are doing it for themselves"

Celine Dion the Las Vegas Strip Diva, maybe she's an American now... humpf

  • "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar.

It would be part of the idea her campaign is still pushing that she is the frontrunner and the others will go negative in an attempt to bring her down.

  • Ok, it may be wrong and totally inappropriate, BUT

    I think these - http://www.cafepress.com/...cfpt_/source_searchBox/copt_

    - are the hottest thing EVER. lol

  • Clinton said they picked that song because that was the song that won my contest, but my question is - who voted for that?

  • Yuck...the song is a terrible choice.

Hopefully we won't have to hear it much after Feb 5th.

  • Maybe I missed a subtle joke -- but, um, Bryan Adams is Canadian:

Then again, Kerry picked U2 -- which is pretty darned Irish.

  • the main lesson out of SC is the Fowlers will always run the SCDP.

  • We all know it should be Patti Smith, "People Have the Power" but, um. Well, you know.

  • Can't believe she didn't like SexyBack.

  • I should have suggested Harnessed in Slums by archers of loaf. it pwns.

  • Yes, the Bryan Adams mention was a joke and it was not that subtle.

  • my question is - who voted for that?

    Just a guess...Obama supporters.

  • I guess it was sort of subtle. I thought everyone knew Bryan Adams was Canadian.

  • Good guess Sara.

  • LOL at Jen B and Sara..

Clinton's "gangsta" with Obama over the "brown" people thing , this is so much more poetic.

  • When do we get to vote for Obama's song? "Move bitch, get out da way, get out da way bitch, get out da way...."
