To understand why Democrats have had such a hard time winning the White House, consider two scenes from last week’s CNN/YouTube debate. First, Sen. Chris Dodd offered a highly precise response to a question about energy: “The 50-mile-per-gallon standard is something I’ve advocated by 2017.” Then former senator John Edwards told a moving story about a man who couldn’t speak for 50 years because of a severe cleft palate: “For five decades, James Lowe lived in the richest nation on the planet not able to talk because he couldn’t afford the procedure that would’ve allowed him to talk.”

Which appeal was more compelling? Which one grabbed you in the gut?

    Facts may not win the Presidency but facts WILL win the democratic nomination.

    Facts is why Dukakis, Gore and Kerry(he just couldn’t Ketchup) were the democratic nominees.

    And as I recall …. Gore did win !!!!!!

    Democrats do like the facts……

    One candidate doesn’t believe in do-overs in an environment where people are looking for change. People are passionate about NOT maintaining the status quo.

    2) Welfare Reform that was a war on welfare recipients masquerading as a war on poverty.

    4) Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 – prelude to the Patriot Act.

    Clean up after Hil

    5) Patriot Act – wiretap/sneak and peak/you’re a terrorist if we say you are – WTF ????

    6) Iraq war authorization. No do-over?…Broke it but don’t want to own it…..

    7) Bankruptcy Reform of 2005 – Could something green have influenced you? Say it isn’t so.
