When I saw this new name show up on the BfD commenters roll, I thought it was a first timer that was using the moniker in jest because sometimes (ok, a lot) some of us (ok, me) are snarky and sharky with our comments. I actually laughed out of loud and thought it was kind of fitting.
Then I went to this website, www.facingthesharks.com, and found out there was a great story behind the name.
The owner of this site, Collen Appleton, is taking on the Government!! Yup, can you believe it - our very own David versus Goliath right in middle Georgia. Colleen, is suing a host of folks, but mainly Robins Air Force Base, for government contract bid rigging. Senator Saxby Chambliss, Senator Isakson, Congressman Marshall, and Governor Perdue are also included in the civil action lawsuit.
Well damn!!! My hat is off to anyone that takes on the big bad boys of business and politics.
She has been in their faces for 84 months trying to settle and negotiate the issues. As her lawsuit is evolving, she is now seeing how the dirty sides of politics and government are no friend to small businesses. Her blog really hammers it home and with great connections (hint: Dale Cardwell), how PACs can and do influence our politicians. Of course, the local MSM down in Macon, 13WMAZ, refuses to cover the story.
As a small business owner, whose business started off working on government contracts, all I can say is "keep fighting the good fight". Your fight is needed for the thousands of small business owners that won't play the "business as usual" game with the big corporations.
I totally agree with her opinion of the SBA 8(a) program and Perdue's ONE GEORGIA program. Both entities are not established to promote and further the entreprenuerial spirit, creativity, and solid business acumen of small business owners. It is a pure crock that they pretend to be on the mom & pop owners' side.
Check out the site, www.facingthesharks.com, and if you believe that this she-David can overcome Goliath, then send her some love via email or through her PayPal link.

Bernita, thank you very much for the write-up on my blog.
I also appreciate the email you sent me to contribute to my education in learning about PACs.
I'll keep everyone up to date on the three lawsuits and any solutions RAFB is willing to discuss with me.
I'm hoping to work with a friend of mine to organize some small businesses to come up with a solution. We really do want a good outcome for everyone involved, and the only way to do this is to demand changes in how RAFB does business with the small businesses.
I'm new to the blogging world of politics, so please, anyone who wants to correct my politics, I'm all for the coaching. I'm an artist trapped in a world of litigation and politics and I'll be glad to get back to my own world, but until then, I'm very thankful to be in your world of politics.
Colleen
