Send a Georgia blogger to YearlyKos

OK it's that time of year again for the YearlyKos Convention.

An annual convention gathering people from all walks of life who belong to the Netroots community, the US-based (but globally focused and inclusive) non-partisan grassroots political action community that uses the Internet and blogs as primary tools.

Yours truly has been invited to participate this year. I have been selected in the first wave of the Last Mile Grantee project. What is the Last Mile Grantee project? Local bloggers in California, Paul Delehanty, Howie Klein, and Vicki Cosgrove put their heads together to ask other bloggers across the nation to:

raise funds for grants to increase the regional and racial diversity of Yearlykos.

Pretty cool. They are organizing to pay the registration fees for at least 16 bloggers across the country.

So they want to each state to catch this same fire and assist their state's Last Mile Grantee blogger with getting to YearlyKos - August 2 - 5 in Chicago.

Here is the PayPal link (yes Paypal cause that Google Checkout totally does not work) to help me raise funds to attend the YearlyKos Convention

Bernita goes to YearlyKos

$1000 needed

Contribute as much as you want. Every dollar contributed shows the love for all Georgia bloggers. Thank you for your support and I promise to liveblog as much as I can.

Read the great story of how a Last Mile blogger in Alabama raised $700 dollars for his trip expenses.

OK, I just chipped in and want to encourage EVERYONE to do the same today. Even if it's just a few bucks, every dollar helps! We've got to send the digital diva to Chicago!

To be fair and spread the truth far and wide, I believe that all Democratic Candidates in Georgia need to contribute something to this. I started the candidate contribution ball rolling.

MelGX [TypeKey Profile Page]:

We might not see eye to eye on many things Smitty but congrats on being picked to attend the event.

It's nice to see some Georgia bloggers getting the respect they deserve.

Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Thanks RD, when the bickering is done, we still see eye to eye on the one thing - getting more Democrats elected. And that's the most important thing.

I only pick with you cause you stand up for what you believe in, you challenge me to stand up for what I believe in, and I have mad Democratic love for ya :)

It's all good.
