Never the darling of the netroots, Hillary Clinton scored major points over the weekend at YearlyKos by rearranging her schedule to allow time for a breakout session with convention attendees. The organizers had mistakenly listed her as having a session on Saturday, and took full responsibility for the screw-up, but to avoid disappointing anyone, Hillary made the appearance. This on the heels of her campaign’s vigorous defense of YearlyKos (the only campaign to do so), has her stock way up on the left side of the tubes.

I originally signed up for Hillary’s breakout session, mainly because I knew the Obama and Edwards sessions would be packed. I also wanted to show support for our only woman candidate, given that the conference was overwhelmingly male. Boy, was I off. Hillary’s session was SRO and then some. When it became known that Hillary would indeed have a breakout session, those yellow wristbands became hot items. Someone offered to trade me an Edwards wristband for my Hillary, but I declined.

This would be my first opportunity to see her up close. I’ve seen Edwards a number of times and while I’m still a fan, I no longer expect him to win the Democratic nomination. Of course it’s still early, and anything can happen, but the fix seems to be in. Hillary has the experience, the money, the team, and of course the spouse to prevail. Regardless of who we each support, I think we need to all start warming up to the idea of a woman president. It’s time.

Even my husband, who started as a Dodd supporter but has become a huge Obama fan, turned to me and said about Hillary, “She looks like success”.

Indeed she does.

PS. Hillary’s internet director Peter Daou, like everyone else on her team, is very impressive. Go read: Hillary at YearlyKos – Thank You

“the fix seems to be in”

    That it most certainly does.

I’m not quite up to the Hillary lovefest so I believe this is where I take my leave.

    See y’all after the primaries.

I hear you Ruby. But really, compared to having to warm up to John Kerry, this is a cakewalk.

I think the thing that pushed me over the top wasn’t seeing her in Chicago, it was the latest poll that had her at 29%, Obama at 26% and Edwards at 18% in Georgia.

It will be interesting to see if that lead holds. Part of my support for Edwards was based on what I assumed would be his stronger appeal in the South. Apparently, that’s not the case, at least according to the 7/23/07 poll.

  3. It is still early, but the Clinton camp has to be elated with how things — a little here, a little there — are moving her way. Good post. (Missed seeing you.)

    Ruby,

Please don’t go! We love your voice here.

I think so Sid. She seems to be the tortoise in this race.

I was very sorry not to be at the meeting as well. It was unfortunate.

Hey Ruby, you just need to become a front pager here to balance things out a bit.

I will say I was thoroughly impressed with Sen. Clinton’s performance in the Charleston debate. And y’all know I’m not a fan.

We’ve still got caucuses and whatnot to deal with. Money may take Hyper Tuesday, but the last Iowa poll I heard of has the Big Three all neck and neck.

And we still don’t know what Dodd or Richardson will pull out. Gravel seems like he’s more in Kucinich territory than anything to me.

One must bless the MSM for one thing – they have 30-second memories and in horse race reporting, they’ll turn around in no time flat to make sure that we are always at war with Eurasia and they are always right.

Or, they will look for their Howard Dean moment to unleash on anyone except for Hillary.

I would hate the pattern of presidents to start becoming centrist, fascist, centrist.

But, if the pundits start saying Hillary is “accomplished” and “reasonable” and “serious” and all this, we all know *not* to vote for her, right?

I’d love to know what poll you’re referencing MelGX! I thought the article on the scramble for African American votes by Obama and Clinton to be most interesting, especially in how Edwards is just not a factor.

It’s a Strategic Vision poll, and I’ve no idea how reliable they are. It got a lot of play, mainly because they have Fred Thompson in the lead in GA, 5 points over Rudy.

    Wow. Just wow.

Not to worry, if success looks like a corporate lacky…..

and the electorate obeys the MSM/Mob mentality as usual and votes for “the one who would win anyway”…..

The pattern will be fascist(pretending to be centrist), fascist (blantantly fascist), fascist (pretending to be progessive).

Which candidate/senator didn’t vote for the Patroit Act and Pre-Authoritization ?

    wow. just. *WOW*
