Sid beat me to it, and apologies to the Kos-ers for interrupting the fun, but I was ASTOUNDED to learn that the SCLC has decided to "honor" Michael Vick, of all possible people. SCLC President Charles Steele had this to say:
Right now, he's feeling discarded, ostracized by people who are rushing to judgment. It's our responsibility to save him.
What, so they give out F'ing medals to people who feel "ostracized" when they do stupid things, or at the very VERY least are too clueless to notice when people do stupid things on their property? I mean, innocent until proven guilty, blah blah blah, but I am CONVINCED that there are THOUSANDS of people who are more worthy and deserving of "recognition" from the SCLC than a filthy rich spoiled football player who may or may not be involved with dogfighting, of all things. I mean, seriously, BERNITA deserves more recognition than Michael Vick, and it isn't even close. I hope the SCLC figures out the difference between "supporting" Mr. Peta Punchbag and giving him some kind of award at their 50th anniversary party. Wtf, wtf, wtf, wtf, wtf. WTF.

I agree. "Innocent until proven guilty" is great for the application of justice, but when it comes to giving awards, maybe it's also appropriate to consider "indicted by a grand jury with cooperating witnesses".
I'm not sure giving a very public award to Michael Vick right about now is going to make his life any better anyway. Maybe a Hallmark card would have been more appropriate if you want to make him feel warm and fuzzy.
