Why can't Rethugs find nice boys outside of public bathrooms

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was arrested in June at a Minnesota airport by a plainclothes police officer investigating lewd conduct complaints in a men’s public restroom.

As reported by Roll Call:

Craig’s arrest occurred just after noon on June 11 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. On Aug. 8, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the Hennepin County District Court. He paid more than $500 in fines and fees, and a 10-day jail sentence was stayed. He also was given one year of probation with the court that began on Aug. 8.

After he was arrested, Craig, who is married, was taken to the Airport Police Operations Center to be interviewed about the lewd conduct incident, according to the police report. At one point during the interview, Craig handed the plainclothes sergeant who arrested him a business card that identified him as a U.S. Senator and said, “What do you think about that?” the report states.

Now I wonder how BushCo will spin this one.

Oh yeah, remember that other Rethug who was caught in a Florida public bathroom, State Rep. Bob Allen - well, that dude played the race card as his excuse:

Allen says he was intimidated after a man offered a sex act for money. He says he went along with the conversation, because he was afraid of becoming another crime statistic.

Allen told police he was just playing along because he was intimidated by the officer, whom he described as a "stocky black guy".

Ethics? Anyone... anyone?

I wanna know how this went like, 3 months without a news report. Seriously, the DNP, IADP (well, it doesn't really exist) and the news outlets seriously f*cked up on this one.

He's trying to lie his way out of it? That's just an open invitation for the press and everyone else to start digging.

They already started digging last year when a blogger tried to out Sen. Craig. This just gives them an excuse to run the story when before they didn't feel like they had enough factual support.

Here's his local paper's story re: their efforts to find men who've had sex with Craig:

The Boise newspaper had a serious investigation of the Craig rumors back in May, but they couldn't find anything that would stick. I guess he decided he was in the clear after that.

Sara Wara: Jinx!

I like the title of this post!

Oh yeah, um, Sara Wara...

That picture is kind of creepy.

Can't one of you graphic wizards make the map go away, and then we'd all know what the size is... of his political capital right now.. get your minds out of the gutter.

I wonder if he's got, like, ...nipple clamps under that suit or something. Sorry, but all sorts of mental images of what the suit could be concealing are racing through my sick mind now.

Here are his committee assignments from his website..

"Senate Committees on which I serve:

The United States Senate relies on committees to investigate issues and prepare legislation for action. After a bill or resolution is introduced, it is referred to the committee with jurisdiction over its subject matter. For example, a bill dealing with veterans' issues would be referred to the Veterans Affairs Committee. The committee generally sends the bill to one of its subcommittees having an even more specialized focus, for review and possibly for hearings, additional research, or revision. If the subcommittee and full committee approve the bill, it is sent to the full Senate for consideration.

Senate committee assignments are based on seniority and availability. I have worked for seats on committees dealing with the issues most likely to affect Idaho and the West.

The committees and subcommittees on which I serve are listed below. Each committee has a website which you may want to visit to learn more. As always, please send me an email if you have any comments or questions about how the committee process functions.

Special Committee on Aging
Appropriations Committee
Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Related Agencies

Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development

Subcommittee on Homeland Security

Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education

Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs

Subcommittee on Interior and Related Agencies, Ranking Member

Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests

Subcommittee on Energy

Subcommittee on Water and Power

Committee on Environment and Public Works
Subcommittee on Public Sector Solutions to Global Warming, Oversight, and Children's Health Protection

Subcommittee on Superfund and Environmental Health, Ranking Member

Veterans' Affairs Committee, Ranking Member "

so clearly the dudes powerful not just cause of seniority.

It's always the closeted ones who are the most aggressively homophobic.

"Craig, 62, was elected to Congress in 1980. Should he win re-election in 2008 and complete his term, he would be the longest-serving Idahoan ever in Congress. His record includes a series of votes against gay rights and his support of a 2006 amendment to the Idaho Constitution that bars gay marriage and civil unions."

Lordy, it gets worse for Craig. The Idaho Statesman has a transcript from a man who had oral sex with Craig at Union Station.

http://www.idahostatesman.com/localnews/story/144047.html

A 40-year-old professional man with close ties to Republican officials told the Idaho Statesman he had oral sex with Sen. Larry Craig at Washington's Union Station, probably in 2004.

Craig denied the allegations, and said, "I am not gay and I have never been in a restroom in Union Station having sex with anybody.

(maybe Craig got the train station wrong)

The most alarming thing is that Craig was rumored in 1982 to be a part of oa paid sex ring.

Yeah, let's keep closing a blind eye on our elected officials' bedrooms while they keep writing legislation that affects America's bedrooms.

We need to send Barney Frank out on a recruiting drive. Just said him out with a friendly message:

"Look, my gaydar goes off the charts every time I see you. You're a major closet case, with all this hateful legislation and it's probably only a matter of time before you become the next Mark Foley. Why don't you just switch over to Democrat and come out into the light and start actually enjoying your life and looking yourself in the mirror in the morning?"

I wager we'd get a couple of Senate seats and about 20 seats in the House overnight.
