I've hated MoveOn before hating MoveOn was cool, but let's face it: the condemnation of this ad by the Senate and House, and the general clamor against it by the right-wing noise machine is both silly and hypocritical. Rush Limbaugh was deriding Chuck Hagel as "Senator Betrayus" long before MoveOn came up with its ad, see http://mediamatters.org/items/200709220003, not to mention the constant stream of invective launched at veterans such as Max Cleland, John Kerry, Jim Webb, and John Murtha. Obviously, MoveOn was blind and stupid in running the ad, but let's make sure we have some perspective.

Well said Paula.
To add my spiff here, I think though that MoveOn has become a bit of a tag line. I'm not defending them but a bit of perspective is warranted.
Is it necessary to always eat our young and slam folks who are trying to do something?
I can't tell you how many meetings I attend that I hear some conversation along the lins of "well if only those Democrats would (fill in the blank)"
Lately my question is, who is that? Who are "those" Democrats exactly? Elected officials, activists, party leaders, folks who show up to 1 f'ing Dem breakfast every 4 years?
I don't get it, nice detachment syndrome...
It's as boring to me to have a conversation about what a horrible candidate John Kerry was... Ok I get it he's a clod but seriously does it really help to still be blamestorming 3 f'ing years later?
I have better things to do, we have real party work to be done, a community to build, letters and calls to be made, neighborhoods to canvass, groups to support, and candidates to encourage.
I'm tired of living in the past, I want a little "Obamafied HOPE". I want to see leadership supported and I want some folks to start taking responsiblity.
I'm not calling anyone out, and certainly most who read this blog are up to their eyeballs trying to make a difference.
