What is up with the storm drains?
Our 15 minute surface street commute from southwest to northwest Atlanta this morning was delayed by complete flooding of storm drains. I don't know that the heck all the billions are being spent on but if we can't handle a couple hours of rain in December I don't know what will happen when the drought ends and we have rain throughout the year.
Oh, and a little travel advisory for Atlanta drivers: Northside Drive north of Collier will be closed 9AM-7PM today for repairs to a broken water main.

Welcome back to normalcy Catherine. I think after this year we have all forgot how our streets flood every time it rains, not to mention how the traffic lights can't seem to handle it either. What a well run city you've got there, Shirley.
i bet trackboy1 has some info on this.
But holy $hit this is a late christmas present for me.
100 yards further south on Northside and I would be ****ed.
All I'm going to say is, damn.
Well, it's no worse than the stretch on Peachtree btw 15 and 10th and Juniper area which is a disaster area...giant holes in the ground and road contruction on all the cross streets...
I'm staying outta that area for as long as possible.
Argh a city to busy to plan...
There were several major roads blocked on my short commute today due to flooded storm drains. I was really surprised--unless it's that the drains got clogged with leaves and other debris while they were all dry, and this was the first really big hard rain that packed all those clogs in firmly? I dunno.
