The Day After.

icon_snow.jpgOn to New Hampshire for some. Back to the Senate for others.

Congratulations to Senator Obama and his supporters. Nicely done. Looks like onward for Senators' Clinton and Edwards. Senators' Biden & Dodd have announced that they will head back to DC and end their bids for the nomination.

On the Republican side it looks like Mr Romney squandered a boatload of cash. But, Guiliani with 4% was the biggest surprise to me. CNN has the complete results.

Thank you, Shelby, for making the evening fun and informative.

  • What an amazing night. Obama blew the doors off the place, and his victory speech was stunning. As a Clinton supporter, I'm sort of conflicted about the whole thing. While she didn't do as well as I had hoped, her coming in third means GA will see more action. We do so love action.

  • PS. My heart dropped for Shelby when I heard the news about Biden. Too bad. Really.

  • The real winner last night was Shelby... I laughed I cried I smelled farts with him, sweated, saw the boiler room and really really am in debt to this pioneer of citizen journalism.

It was fantastice to see 268 folks join the live stream and twitter away. Folks from WV and CA, not sure how they heard about it, but it was rilly rilly fabulous.

Don't forget his tip jar and I'm sure his hard work for the Biden campaign will not be forgotten, they don't seem the type for that.

Shelby ROCKS! Can't wait to turn in for his next adventure.

  • You are spot-on Jules. It was a blast! Don't forgot the viewer from Germany on Shelby's ustream last night.

  • Remember too, folks, that Iowa is just the opening shot. Only Jimmy Carter and Dubya have won the Iowa Caucus and then gone on to win the Presidency.

I'm sad about Biden too. Not just for Shelby, but because Biden was actually growing on me.

  • Iowa is right in predicting the nominee about half the time, when there is not an incumbent president on the primary ballot.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_caucuses

4 of the last 7 non-incumbent Democratic nominees won Iowa. Unfortunately, of those 4 only Carter went on to win the presidency. On the Republican side, 2 of 4 non-incumbent Republican nominees won Iowa. And of those 2, only W went on to win the presidency.

So, it's not really fair to imply that the caucuses are totally useless, though things are far from decided.
