Friday Open Thread

icon_thread.jpg John McCain has an anger management problem.

Chertoff given power to suspend any law. I’m sure he won’t abuse that power or anything, though.

Wal-Mart not so smart.

Remember when the Lieberman campaign accused Ned Lamont of hacking his website? Funny story, turns out it was their own fault.

Must. Have. This.

Aw, just when you think you have some really good internet rumormongering going, the mainstream media has to go and rain on the parade.

Gotta come back to the open thread … is there anyone else who was disgusted by that spectacle called “The Compassion Forum” last night?

The richest part was that the Democrats are expected to jump through hoops to explain their fixes for this country in that narrow framework, and McCain gets to skip out without comment.

McCain did betray how out-of-touch he is about sex when, just one year ago, he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) say whether he believed that condoms help prevent the spread of HIV.

    story here

    A little more McCain action:

Old school and out of touch. Although I really don’t think he’s so old-fashioned about sex, except for the old hypocrisy of “moral” leaders: “lots for me and little for you.”

Unless gold-digging on Cindy was all about the Benjamins…

Odin, totally with you on that. It cracks me up that when that stuff was being videotaped there wasn’t an attorney around thinking “hmm, who is taping this and what are they doing with the tapes?” Hell, I think about that $&*# all the time…

    WalMart, yeah, not so smart…

Well if we are going for things that Paula truly needs, here you go:

And if you need to travel somewhere to pick it up, you can fly these guys:

    Speaking of must-have gizmos:

Tissot has a touch screen watch. You touch the crystal in different place to access the alarm, the chronograph, the altimeter, the thermometer, the compass, and the barometer. Not bad for $600.

    Don’t see a Hello Kitty version…. yet.

” ‚ÄúNeedless to say, we did not pay Flagler Productions to tape internal meetings with this aftermarket in mind,‚Äù Wal-Mart spokeswoman Daphne Moore said.”

Play me the world’s smallest violin.

It warms my heart to see a spurned supplier of WalMart actually have the leverage to fight back.

Paula, there is a Hello Kitty store at the new Kroger shopping center one mile from my house. I will pop in there and pick up one for you.

“The image is of the vice president’s hand on his fly rod.”

Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

When I make it big as a defense contractor, I’ll be sure to remember that particular junket.

I mean, who doesn’t like a nice peaceful stream fishing trip with a couple of lovely sunbathers on the opposite bank?

Probably not for McCain, though. He’d probably throw rocks at them or some other eighth grade “I like you” behavior.
