Not anything else.
OK. I'm taking some proprietor liberties now. Today we lost a long-time commenter and friend to BfD because of the passion that so many of us have about this campaign. I was, and remain, very sad that we will no longer hear from this individual.
While many of us may disagree about which candidate is best; which issue most important; which value most worth fighting for; in general the "regulars" on this blog are largely in agreement about the bigger picture of where our country should be headed.
So, can we all just tone it down a little bit. Me too. Most of us are very passionate - which is what draws us together. As I said to the aforementioned individual today - unfortunately, that passion can also tear us apart. Let's not lose any more FOBfD (Friends of Blog for Democracy).
Let's start today. Right here. Building the case against John McCain. We can all agree on the importance of that, methinks.

You are exactly right.

We need to consider the down ballot candidates as well. Seeing this infighting continue and seeing it get much worse might make some swing voters stay home or support the GOP candidate.
We need to come together. Backing the Presidential nominee is important to many, but that's not the only race on the ballot in November.

Building the case against John McCain.
He almost builds it himself. Every time he speaks.
As someone who was not strongly partial to either candidate and whose opinion of each of them lowered through this long process, a shift in focus will be very refreshing. I am hopeful that the party (and the FOBfD) will unite by the time we get to Denver.

Funny. The other day, I was thinking about how remarkably calm everyone has been on BfD (compared to dKos and TalkLeft) and then, everything went to hell. Bound to happen, I suppose.
Can't wait to use the McCain icon!!

Putting McCain's attack Chihuahua on notice is a nice step.

PS - We also need a creepy old man grin for McCain ... Throughout half of his speech last night, my viewing partner mentioned how unfortunate his smile was for him.

We know who we need to fight. We know who we cannot let be the next President. 4 or 8 more years like the last 8 we cannot let happen. Are you better off than you were 8 years ago.

Let's not forget that McCain stands for glorifying Nazi technology to further shove our planet into the peril of global warming.
I speak, of course, of coal and gas liquification. But, even though there were many good German scientists and engineers, I just wanted to be sure that whenever I hear about "clean coal," I try to link it in the listener's mind to Nazis.
Maybe not the best tactic, but Hitler underwent this program in desperation in his time, and if McCain is elected, so will we.
