Dems call on Chambliss to return Stevens' funny moneyATLANTA - Georgia Democrats are calling on Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss to return $10,000 in campaign money he received from recently-indicted Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK). FEC reports show that Stevens' "Northern Light" Political Action Committee forked over the maximum legally allowed contribution to Georgia's senior Senator on March 6, 2007.
"Senator Stevens' indictment puts every penny he has raised or contributed under a cloud of suspicion," said Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Jane Kidd. "We're calling on Senator Chambliss to show, for the first time, a dedication to open, transparent government, by doing the right thing and donating the $10,000 he took from the Northern Light PAC to charity."
Chambliss is a favorite of the Republican leadership. During his Senate career, he has voted with the Bush agenda over 95% of the time, and since the Democrats took power following the 2006 elections, he has been a reliable vote for Republican obstructionism in the Senate.

Other Republican Senators have been falling all over themselves to return Stevens' money. There is no excuse for Shameless to not do the same.

Chambliss took care of this yesterday:
http://tinyurl.com/5cp6oz
"Yesterday, 24 hours after charges were leveled against the longest-serving U.S. senator, the Chambliss campaign wrote two checks — $5,000 to Camp Sunshine, which offers a summer vacation to kids with cancer, and another $5,000 to the Georgia chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation."
Hate when that happpens.

I think I'll leave it as a reminder. It's good to laugh at ourselves occasionally.

Just going after a donation or two isn't really going to hurt Saxby too much (yeah, it's a nice little harassment).
If you really want to tie him to Republican corruption, you've got to align and then impugn his voting record with the dirty scent of Big Money.
Either thought or get him the number for Ted Haggard's meth source.

Oh, leave it up! Milk it! This ties Saxby to Abramoff. I am happy for the opportunity to repeat Saxby's record:
Supported term limits
(Apparently not anymore).
Approves of lobbyist gifts.
Used to support balanced budgets. (Evidently not anymore.)
Author of the most horrible campaign ad EVER.
Approves still subsidizing corporations who move offshore.
Doesn't like healthy children (SCHIP).

The video on his web site at the Dairy Festival is hilarious as well.
Scene:
Bunch of very young kids lined up looking at video camera.
Cameraman: Why do you support Senator Chambliss?
LONG PAUSE, obvious off screen coercion, then they break into blood curdling shrieks:
Kids: BECAUSE HE SUPPORTS OUR VALUES!
What kind of values could these kids have exactly? Are they all about his "Cookies for Dinner" bill? Or his "Screw keeping up with the Japs, no more teaching of science to American kids" initiative?
