Breaking news here.
WASHINGTON - The House on Monday defeated a $700 billion emergency rescue package, ignoring urgent pleas from President Bush and bipartisan congressional leaders to quickly bail out the staggering financial industry.Stocks plummeted on Wall Street even before the 228-205 vote to reject the bill was announced on the House floor.
Lots of blather to be had for the next two news cycles. Oh extra blamestorming and finger pointing too...

Out of Georgia, only Sanford Bishop and Jim Marshall voted yes. Everyone else, including the rest of the Democratic delegation, voted no.

Well, what is interesting is the leadership was told that the Republicans would deliver 1/2 the delegation and they didn't.
Fo once I agree with my congresscritter.. gasp
Closed down 777, unbelievable. I don't know if I want the House to pass this tomorrow, but I sure want them to do something fracking amazing. This is getting real serious.
Oh, and just for the record, I think if our Speaker had wanted this to pass, she should have given a different speech - which makes me doubt that she did want that. And when John Lewis doesn't want it to pass, maybe that's ok. I'm gonna go buy some Euros and hide them under the bed though.

When Westmoreland and Lewis both vote "no" on something, it must be extra stinky.
