Folks, this election is making me positively loopy. Good thing we have YouTube.
Tomorrow, Mo's Obama Voting Party Bus will be shuttling students from Mercer, and then Friday -- like Sarah Palin -- it goes rogue!!! Wandering the streets and picking up hapless voters anywhere to take them to the polls.
I hopped on at Georgia State on Monday, which was kinda silly considering we were about two blocks from the poll, but what the hell, it makes for purty moving pictures:
For all you Phillies fans... Congratulations!
Ok everyone that's your break.. back to politics
Stumbling around the "internets" tonight, I found this little gem. I love that this is way they communicate, and have generously invited us in to join them. I'm a complete sucker for anything that has old friends communicating and connecting for years and years.
The Blog is best described by the author...
My name is Helen Philpot. I am 82 years old. My grandson taught me how to do this so that I could "blog" with my best friend Margaret Schmechtman who I met in college almost 60 years ago. I have three children with my husband Harold. Margaret has three dogs with her husband Howard. I live in Texas and Margaret lives in Maine.
A small sample here.
If, in fact, you are reading this blog and think that Sarah Palin is actually qualified to run the country… well I suggest you check and see if your panties are on because the joke just may be on you.And as far as McCain goes. Panties or no panties, he's got to be questioning what he has unleashed on the Republican party. That whack job isn’t going anywhere and the closer we get to election day who knows what she will try. So hang on to your panties everyone. There might be a few skid marks before this is all over.
Seriously, she is giving Princess Sparkle Pony a run for her money in most hilarious way to describe politics and life! Enjoy...
Oh and BTW, when I left the site they had 597,593 hits. Um yeah, you go girls!
The New York Times has suddenly discovered that something is happening in Georgia.
Hundreds of voters, most of them black residents of bedroom communities east of Atlanta, are waiting to cast early ballots, motivated by the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama but many also taking the opportunity to vote for Jim Martin, Mr. Chambliss's Democratic opponent....Like several other Senate and House candidates in North Carolina, Ohio and Connecticut, Mr. Chambliss finds himself in a tight race even though only months ago he was considered a cinch for re-election. A significant part of his problem is the surging participation by African-American voters, their ranks bolstered by the newly registered, a group expected to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats this year.
Oh, I'm sorry, is my schadenfreude showing?
John McCain's campaign is looking for a scapegoat. It is looking for someone to blame if McCain loses on Tuesday. And it has decided on Sarah Palin.
More at Politico
"The other folks are voting."
Yes, he really said that. Politico reports on Senator Chambliss' tour of North Georgia:
The Republican is outwardly confident, but there's urgency in his voice as he tours North Georgia, trying to boost turnout in his predominately white base:"The other folks are voting," he bluntly tells supporters.
Tell us, Senator, who are these "other folks"?

Insider Advantage (yes, THAT Insider Advantage) smacks Karen Handel for not extending Advance Voting Hours
But...she is quickly digging herself a Katherine Harris-style hole from which she may never emerge.First, her decision not to seek clearance from the DOJ for extended hours for early voting in Georgia just kills the GOP in the state. A shoe can only fit so much foot. And because early voting has skewed demographically so heavily in the Democrats' favor, it only makes sense that Florida's GOP Governor Charlie Crist knew darn well what he was doing when he extended voting hours in Florida.
Georgia Supreme Court: Powell will stay on ballot in PSC race
In a unanimous decision, the Georgia Supreme Court today affirmed the place of Democrat Jim Powell on the Tuesday ballot as a candidate for Public Service Commission, rebuffing Secretary of State Karen Handel.Handel had appealed a Fulton County Superior Court ruling that sided with Powell, and overturned her decision that found Powell ineligible to run based on his residency.
Amy Morton has compiled, what has to be, the most extensive collection of reasons why voters of House District 140 (Macon area), should reject the unseemly and ineffectual Republican incumbent Allen Freeman in favor of salt of the earth Democrat Bubber Epps.

Computer glitch leaves 1,000 South Atlanta voters waiting
Nearly 1,000 people were in line when the malfunction happened, county officials said. Brower said the malfunction originated with State Secretary Karen Handel's office, the Georgia division responsible for elections. "The state was having an Internet connectivity issue," he said.
Atlanta City Council President Lisa Borders came to Adamsville to help keep voters comfortable during the delay. "I suggest that (Handel) investigate what happened here and fix it, and extend the hours for advance voting through the weekend and Monday...as North Carolina and Florida have done," Borders said.Rashad Taylor was also on the scene, says FreshLoaf
State Rep.-elect Rashad Taylor, D-Atlanta, says poll workers at the Adamsville Recreation Center in Southwest Atlanta told him voter check-in machines couldn't access the Secretary of State's system shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday night.Related link: Election Protection Eyes 'Super Precincts', includes list of Super Precincts in Metro.
Jon had a front page post on DKos yesterday as part of their Listening to the Locals series. It's a great recap of where we've been, and a snapshot of where we are now, politically speaking, in Georgia.
We will however expect at least one round of drinks from the ad revenue of the Kos kiss.
This includes people who did Early Voting! I voted this past Tuesday, and yep, my ballot was counted... I didn't have any doubts voting in person, but this is handy for folks that mailed them in...
Not usually a fan, but this was really good.
The case for Barack Obama, in broad strokes:He has within him the possibility to change the direction and tone of American foreign policy, which need changing; his rise will serve as a practical rebuke to the past five years, which need rebuking; his victory would provide a fresh start in a nation in which a fresh start would come as a national relief. He climbed steep stairs, born off the continent with no father to guide, a dreamy, abandoning mother, mixed race, no connections. He rose with guts and gifts. He is steady, calm, and, in terms of the execution of his political ascent, still the primary and almost only area in which his executive abilities can be discerned, he shows good judgment in terms of whom to hire and consult, what steps to take and moves to make. We witnessed from him this year something unique in American politics: He took down a political machine without raising his voice.
