Did I dream this headline?

iconTexas grand Jury indicts Cheney, Gonzales, so says CNN.

In typical Cheney fashion, the Vice President's spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said, "The vice president has not received an indictment."

I wonder, can the President who gave us the doctrine of preemption pardon preemptively?

Considering the recent reports that Obama doesn't plan to have his AG and DOJ prosecute Bush officials, it's glad someone believes in the rule of law and doesn't think you can get away with torturing and killing innocent people.

Indeed. If the world were just, there would be the political version of the day of the baptism of Corleone's child on a day of Obama's choosing. He is a Chicago politician, after all - I'm sure he knows some folks who know how to make it brutal but not messy.

Let the Broders and Brokaws bitch for the first few days, and then have the Congress keep passing legislation that the American people care about. Results are going to be way more important than personalities.

I think Ford already gave us the preemptive pardon.

I'd like to know the ratio of the pardons awarded to people serving sentences disproportionate to the crime they committed to the pardons awarded to people in order to prevent them from serving sentences proportionate to the crime they committed. Because it seems like the latter far outnumber the former.

The FORMER GOP Governor of Kentucky, Ernie Fletcher, also did it when his aides were caught violating state personnel law by applying political loyalty tests to state workers. Ernie issued a blanket pre-indictment pardon for everyone involved, except himself. It helped elect Democrat Steve Beshear in 2007.

It seems like even if this goes through they won't face any serious penalty.
