The AJC reports that Georgia ranks seventh (tied with five other states) in drive by shootings.
Not coincidentally, the state ranks 6th in average commute length (the second unhealthiest!)and Atlanta is third on the list of most dangerous major cities.
We can do better, we have fewer shooting ranges than almost all of the other states we are tied with (even Kansas has more!). I know what you are saying, shooting ranges have to close in Atlanta as suburban sprawl reaches them and with all the noise they are forced to close down. Wrong! We have a law protecting them
Closing Grady would help move us up in the rankings..

You really think the people going to shooting ranges are responsible for drive bys?
No, it's the people NOT going to shooting ranges. I think it's a problem with aim, and that can only be fixed by more practice.
The only way we can get to number one in these rankings is to employ the only gun control that works: hit your target!
grift: more guns = more violence. Fact.
Grift is right - my clients aren't going to shooting ranges. But that's mostly because they're already convicted felons and aren't allowed to possess guns.
But yet, they wind up with them anyway..
Did you people read the post?
Yeah.
I admit I didn't really get it.
IRE. :eyeroll
More guns does generally equal more violence. Case in point: London vs. Mogadishu. I had a prof from Mogadishu and he said guns and hashish are more easily available than food. Bad combo.
And for our next debate - Apples vs Oranges vs Elbows
I'm just pointing out the correlation, I'm not interested in the full gun control debate. The fact is that places that are more armed are not more safe. Access to violence does, in fact, breed more violence statistically. And I don't much buy the "defend myself against the tyrannical government" bit, either. A glock isn't going to last long against an Abrams tank, and the Brits don't seem to be living under tyranny with handguns banned.
Grift: I need to troll harder to bait you? Is that what you are saying?
IRE,
Try:
Guns don't kill people - cuckolded rednecks kill people.
At least I'll keep my high rating with the NRA.
At least we can finally pry that gun from Heston's cold dead hands.
...too soon?
