Can’t we all just get along?

Our friend Russ over at the AP just released a story about a letter written by DPG Chair Jane Kidd  regarding party members criticizing Democrats in primaries. I don’t know who leaked an internal document to the press but I have my suspicions. The article talks specifically about the 12th Congressional primary. A few county party chairs and elected officials  have voiced their displeasure in Rep. John Barrow’s vote on healthcare. Some have gone as far as saying they will support his opponent Former State Senator Regina Thomas.

As far as the elected officials go they can endorse anyone they want in an election. The county chairs are a different story. Party members have to constantly walk a fine line and not use their official title when endorsing a candidate in a primary. John Brewer, Chair of the Montgomery County Dems, has been very vocal in his displeasure of Barrow. In his defense he says he was speaking as a private citizen and not a party chair. Where does one draw that line? It’s a tough question. Mr. Brewer can’t control if the press calls him and uses his title as county chair. Some county chairs may be taken off guard when Politico comes calling asking questions about her/his congressman.

In the long run this will blow over. What I am worried about and what I think the bigger problem here is that someone leaked this letter. Some things should be kept inside “the family”. Or at least let the reporter use your name in the article. Loose lips sink ships.

Oh yea, this was my first post on BfD. I promise the future one will be better. I wanted to do some sort of cheeky intro of myself but this seemed more important. Anywho, my name is Gunner. I am a Democrat and Windows 7 was my idea.

Blackburn? Really? Obama supports West Ham, which proves he is racist.

Hmm. Tomorrow is World Cup Day on Blog For Democracy, it has just been declared.

Also, every day from June 11 to July 11th is also World Cup Day.

There was a comment over at Peach Pundit comparing the above letter to the republican loyalty pledge. That is the ultimate in wishful thinking, there is a huge difference between giving a candidate an unfair advantage and restricting the ideas you allow into your party.

That district will always have a similar problem. This is the last election in its current configuration.

It sounds like Brewer is the one with the ax to grind. Can you blame him? I used to respond to Barrow’s mass emails with obscenity laced rants until Ted accused me of being immature and took me off the list. Busted.

OK, kids. Just so you know. It wasn’t me. I did not give that letter to the AP.

Welcome Gunner! So glad to have you here.

It took a while to figure out what was going on here. When I first read the letter, I was convinced it was aimed squarely at those of us who blog. I wonder how many others interpreted it as a general “cease and desist” of their activities? It was poorly worded and seemed to suggest that anyone who wants to engage, on any level, should resign before doing so. A real buzz kill.

This blog needs more Arsenal fans.

That’s incredibly naive if that dude thinks Politico is calling him as some random guy in the district rather than as a County Chair.

I am sure he doesn’t, he just doesn’t think Barrow genuflects at the county line the way he should.
