Please don’t care about who I’m voting for

Hi. I’m Martin. I used to work over at the state party, and now I work with candidates. I also blog about stuff, over at Beyond the Trestle, at change.org, and now here. So, I reckon I’m about as much of a blogger as anyone else. And I need you guys to do me a solid.

Please don’t care about who I’m voting for this July.

Here’s why. If you’re reading this, then chances are, you know as much – or more – about politics as I do. So you don’t need me to tell you who to vote for.

I’m a blogger and a “political consultant,” whatever that really means. I’m not Andrew Young, I’m not MoveOn, I’m not the AFL-CIO. I haven’t held an elective office since I made executive committee for my fraternity in college.

So, don’t care about who I’m voting for. In exchange, I’ll make you a promise in return. I’m not going to tell you who I’m voting for.

You see, it’s not my job to tell you who to vote for, and that’s exactly what an endorsement is. I’m here to give commentary, to pat campaigns on the back when they do a good job, and to mock them when they do stupid stuff. Most importantly to me, I’m here to (hopefully) give you some useful information to help you make up your own mind in the voting booth.

And thanks in advance for putting up with me while I try to do that.

I hear you MSM, but unfortunately grace does not live here.

    Otherwise, welcome and thank you.

No, it’s up, I just entered the link wrong. It’s fixed now.

‘Beyond the trestle’ seems to be down for the moment, Martin. Looking into the other, despite the risible and controversial nature of the topic, count me as thinking that ‘ferret legging’ is mostly harmless too. JMP

and I promise not to laugh out too loud about who you are voting for…oh wait, I won’t know this since you’re not sharing any endorsements. Dang, does this mean that no candidate will dumbly send out a press release lauding this blog as a “major statewide blog”.
