Squires Calls for Hudgens to Retire

Turns out she wasn’t too pleased with Ralph Hudgens’ comments that the Insurance Commissioner “can’t do squat about healthcare”.

Full release below.

(Atlanta, Ga)  Mary Squires, Democratic nominee for Georgia Insurance Commissioner, responded today to Republican Insurance Commissioner candidate, Ralph Hudgens’, claim that “the Insurance Commissioner can’t do squat about healthcare.”

Appearing on the Martha Zoller morning program on WXKT radio in Gainesville Tuesday morning, Hudgens failed to realize that his microphone was live during a commercial break.  It was during the break Hudgens told Zoller forcefully that “the Insurance Commissioner can’t do squat about healthcare.”

“We’ve already had sixteen years under an Insurance Commissioner who didn’t do squat about health care. If Ralph Hudgens believes he is not up to tackling the most important problem facing Georgia families he should retire or find a less complicated office to run for.” said Squires.

One of the brighter lights of the entire slate and one that always brings smiles & nods of agreement from everyone. Wish we had more Mary’s to go around!! Good on her! JMP

Well, that’s a huge misstep. I assume that’s recorded. I look forward to hearing it all October on Robocalls and on the radio. What fun!

I think Insurance Commissioner is a race the Democrats can win in November. Not having a primary really helps Mary’s chances. Additionally, we need her in this position. What a change to have a consumer advocate serve as Insurance Commissioner. We know Mary is a fighter–go get ’em, Mary!
