Tipping Point, or One of the Seven Signs?

Last evening I was hanging out on Facebook with my “friends” and noticed that Grayson had shared a blog post from Peach Pundit about seven of their front page posters, including Erick Erickson, endorsing Carol Porter for Lt. Gov.

I’ll admit, I’d had couple glasses of wine and while I generally can hold my lick’r, in this case I did start to think that perhaps I was halucinating.

Then things got weird-really weird.

I made a comment that being crusty and cranky as I am, I just didn’t believe it.  Next thing I know, Erick is responding to ME!  In fact, he was quite kind and offered to give a donation to Porter, as he said “put his money where his mouth is”.  We engaged each other for a couple more comments, all pleasant like-which seemed to please our “host” Grayson.

Being the godless-librul that I am, I don’t actually believe in the “end times” or the Apocalypse, but after that I felt I should at least consider the possibility and check out what those seven signs actually are. I’m not sure any of them actually fits this experience, but surely we can all agree that anywhere Erick and I meet on the political continuum must mean something.

So there you have it, not sure he and I are planning to have drinks and do each others hair any time soon, but perhaps this is progress of a sort. Perhaps folks all over the political spectrum have figured out that this state is in such rough shape that the politics of politics, tit-for-tat, greed, sloth and stalemate call for someone who didn’t come directly outta our toxic swamp.

Someone like Carol Porter.

They hate Cagle because he’s such an obvious dumb bunny yet gets laid (on some rather nice furniture I hear) WAY more than all the above listing of silly trolls put together.

What ever happened to Icarus over at PP?

I read the top & wanted to say ‘What Grift said’, and then he only added to the value here too. Carol’s also up on TV, which means she’s got some money, just not the boodle the Rethugs have. JMP

See, as I just said on Twitter, I’m half convinced Erick did this just because he knows how much it will bother all of us to agree with him about anything.

Also, I doubt he would do this if he thought it might actually change the outcome of the election. This way he can take a principled stand against Cagle, who he clearly dislikes, but when Cagle beats Porter anyway (she has little $ and abysmal name rec, and only 2 weeks in which to change that) he can then say “I told you so.”

@Grift, thank you, thank you very much. I’m not a regular reader over there at PP, so I’d have missed all this by a mile.

I think this comment might be the most useful insight I’ve read all year.

    Thank you.

Here’s your friendly griftdrift scorecard for Peach Pundit people not voting for Casey Cagle:

Erick Erickson – Media whore. Smells opportunity to bolster his anti-establishment cred and make a few headlines. He also has said he wants to paralyze the Senate. This would give the House, home to the crazier shit that Erick loves, more power.

Chris Farris – General malcontent. Likes running against the tide.

Charlie Harper – Crusader. The only real moderate in the bunch. He actually believes that the only way to wake up his party is to smack them in the face with an electoral embarrassment. Has been burned for this before.

Tyler Burgess – Young idealist. Like Charlie/Icarus before the fall.

Pete Randall – Paper doll. “Pete” would praise a turd if he thought it would get him attention.

Jace Walden – Libertarian. Wasn’t voting for Cable or Porter anyway

Clint Murphy – Outlaw and sometimes outcast. Wears his bitterness on his sleeve. Grudge against the entire Georgia GOP for not doing the right thing and supporting his candidate.

But really, you don’t have to go past the top dog. Erick does things for one thing only – to advance HIS agenda.

Because Erick doesn’t like to hitch his wagon to sure losers. Like I said- politics.

    Beware witch burners bearing gifts.

@Grift… so why not endorse the Libertarian? That’s certainly in their wheelhouse no?

This is not a come to Jesus moment. The PP boys have had it in for Cagle for a long time. It’s poliitics at its reddest of tooth and claw.
