Paul Broun (R-GA) Ugh.

As we’ve all heard by now, one of Georgia’s favorite Congressmen is at it again.

Here, here, here and here…  and endless other places it has been covered…  of course, these guys didn’t think it was all that bad.

Originally, it was classified as “unacceptable.”  Thankfully, after being told that killing the President is a bad thing, the Congressman has shown some sense with a strongly worded finger shake.

My only question is, why did it take any longer than 3 seconds to show incredible offense to anyone asking a question about when is someone going to shoot the President?

Paul Broun…  making Georgians the shame of the country, yet again.

Maybe you recall the incident where Jesse Helms made the statement that President Clinton was so unpopular on military bases in North Carolina that he “better have a bodyguard” if he visits the state (1994). Senator Helms then repeated the remark in an interview with a Raleigh newspaper.

“Concerned by the threatening nature of Mr. Helms’s remarks, Secret Service officials said today that they were looking into his comments and whether the President faced any threats in North Carolina.

Senator Christopher J. Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, noted that today was the 31st anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. “To suggest on this day of all days, Nov. 22d, that an American President’s life might be in jeopardy because they were to visit an American military base would suggest that my colleague from North Carolina doesn’t seem to know what country he’s living in,” Mr. Dodd said.

He criticized Mr. Helms for not formally apologizing and said the Republican leadership in Congress should demand an apology and repudiate Senator Helms’s comments.
