Georgia Girl Does Good in the World

I’m sure many of BfD’s readers are familiar with Shannon Marietta.

She was working on Stephanie Singer’s race for City Commission in Philly, defeating incumbent Marge Tartaglione.

The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote of Tartaglione, saying she has: “presided over the city election machinery since the mid-1970s.”

Nice.

    Congratulations to Ms Marietta!

GA Progressive – Do you think it’s possible that Ms Marietta has been successful party because she has been working outside of Georgia? Sometimes it works to move away to grow your skills and contacts. And to be fair, Georgia doesn’t have a great track record with any of our home-grown politicos.

Ed, you raise an excellent question, and that is why I believe that Philadelphia is a town all Americans should visit personally — in order to exercise their freedom of choice in the city where American democracy was born.

Maybe the subtle point Ed is making here is that if Mae-retta weren’t consistently pissed on by Georgia Democrats, she wouldn’t have to travel out of state and show the folks back home how winning is done.

Stephanie I am putting you on the spot and you must choose one.

    Pat’s, or Geno’s?

Shannon is a brilliant campaign manager, and bulldog-loyal. Many thanks to the Peach State Dems for letting her come north for a bit. Philadelphia will be the better for it!

By the way, y’all should come visit.

Good on Shannon for doing some good in Yankee land. And Marge sounds like a piece of work:

who happened to be collecting over 288K in pension, but was just defeated by a math prof. That’s what corruption will do to you. Philly Bricks has more of the background here on Marge:

Wouldn’t you expect a person with the name Tartaglione, in Philly, to have “presided over the city election machinery since the mid-1970s.” ?

That’s all the point of carrying a knife.

What’s the point of carrying a knife if you don’t plan on using it?

In her defense, she probably knew who you were.

One of my first conversations with Shannon ended with her saying, “I have a knife in my purse and I will cut you”.
