YDG Honors Carter and Benfield TONIGHT!

The Young Democrats of Georgia will be hosting the Murphy Awards Reception, honoring Senator Jason Carter and Representative Stephanie Stuckey-Benfield, tonight from 5:30 until 7:00 at the Park Tavern in Atlanta.

Admission is free, but I’m sure the Young Dems would appreciate your financial support, if you’re good enough to give it.

Louis Elrod, the President of the Young Democrats of Georgia, was a speaker at the Hope & Unity Rally.

It’s actually named after Captain Hazel “Hank” Murphy, a decorated war hero.

It’s been called the Murphy Award for years, as I understand it. I know as long as I’ve been involved, this has been a yearly occurrence (with a hiatus last year). Someone older and wiser than I can probably elaborate.

Hey, can someone tell me why this is called the Murphy Award, and his connection to YDs? Just curious
