Your Prefiled Legislation

Oh, and how I know this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for.  Time for another legislative session where we get to see what terrible legislation the Republicans are cooking up.  Without any further ado, I give you Your Prefiled Legislation (please play this music as I make the introductions)

And a few good ones that I wanted to highlight:

  • Rep. Billy Mitchell’s “Return to Play Act of 2012.”  Any time we ensure schools are aware and prepared for head injuries, especially in football games, I’m in favor of it.  The NFL has taken a hard line on this, so I think we need to extend that to our younger players.
  • Rep. Mitchell’s “Geolocation Information Protection Act,” which basically makes it illegal to track people (with obvious exceptions) without their consent (you hear that, Apple?!)

Of course you could and I have no doubt you’d have fun. I’m just saying you’d lose.

I’m sorry, but that’s a losing argument too.

I can argue it. Actually, I’d have fun arguing it.

    WAIT A SECOND…

There’s something in this law school thing that’s going to make Steve TALK MORE?

    This makes me sad.

Wait till you take Crim Pro before you think too highly of the “personal nature of a car.”

You’ll like that class, it’ll make you mad and you’ll talk a lot.

But, it isn’t just about money. Search Lexis for “Ceremonial Deism.”

I don’t know, I could make a fun argument distinguishing license places from, say, money. It would involve references to “bumper stickers, and the expressive and personal nature of a car” and the “non-possessory and transient nature of currency.” If I get bored tomorrow, I might do some Lexis searching to try to make a cogent argument.

“In God we Trust” is the national motto and, while I would rather it not be on the license plate, it isn’t unconstitutional. I think in the history of the Supreme Court there have been about 3 maybe 4 justices who thought it violated the First Amendment.

I would just print T-shits that say, “Quite #@$&ing with the license plats and do something that matters”

That ”require poor people to get drug tested” smells like some testing facilities have already been chosen. G-d , it is hard enough for people to ask for this small “handout”, now we want to humilate them.
