Or put another way, Gingrich fails to qualify in his home state:

Newt Gingrich will not be on the ballot for Virginia’s Republican presidential primary after failing to gain the required 10,000 signatures to qualify, the Republican Party of Virginia announced early Saturday.

That will teach him to hire the same firm that faked his twitter followers. Kidding. Rick Perry also failed to produce enough signatures to qualify in Virginia. Not kidding.

I would almost agree with the Repugs, if they weren’t the party of personal responsibility and are now blaming the state. It wasn’t like this snuck up on them.

The Democratic Party of VA used to run the ballot sigs a little different. They had all the candidates on one petition so you could sign once for all candidates. At the time they were stressing ballot access to all candidates.

It’s not like Virginia is a big state that will have an enormous impact on who wins the general election or anything.
