This is disgraceful.

Five separate lawsuits have been filed to PREVENT President Obama from being on the 2012 ballot. While their arguments are foolish, it still requires a vigorous defense in the Georgia judicial system. If successful, Georgia would be the ONLY state to *not* have the President on the November ballot.

Democrats can’t allow our state to be America’s laughing stock. We have to fight these lawsuits, two of which are being represented by a sitting state legislator in the State Capitol.

Merry Christmas from the GA GOP.

We the people must stop and take a look at who we are electing to public office. It is apparent that Mr. Hatfield has no time to actually serve the people he was elected to represent. It is time to send him home to his front porch. A has been…

The only downside to this is Georgia Dems spending too much money and time fighting (which is not the same as publicizing) this. It’s on the GaGOP to check this, otherwise it becomes free national publicity that helps demonstrate GOP policy is all about Obama being a one term President. Coming from a state that’s among the reddest of the red with unemployment well above the national, not checking it conveys the economy be damned.

Trump’s easy dispatch demonstrates the reception this kookiness will receive in the country at large. It’s not publicity that will encourage new businesses or capital to migrate to Georgia, other than wingnuts like Hatfiled that are in oversupply. As such, at the state level, it can be a distraction to GaGOP leadership, certainly welcome in an election year with tax reform on the table.

All well & good Steve, but the Media’s part of the problem, and has been for awhile: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/12/the-medias-deaf-dumb-and-blind-campaign-coverage/250315/

  4. The Open Letter I sent to Representative Hatfield this AM

To State Representative Mark Hatfield (R-Waycross).

    Sir,

I understand that you are an attorney associated with two lawsuits which attempt to exclude the sitting President of the United States from the 2012 General Election Ballot. Your basis for actively supporting this effort is an understanding that the President is ineligible to run for President because one of his parents (His father) was not born in the United States. This circumstance, according to you understanding renders him ineligible to hold office because he is not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States. Sir you may not have realized that the first 10 Presidents of the United States would fail this same test since their parents were not US Citizens at the time of their birth.

By your own standard sir (both parents having to be born as US Citizens) Not even Abraham Lincoln would qualify for the Presidency since his father, Thomas was not born in the United States.

Sir, your insistence on bringing this absurd conjecture forward is an embarrassment to our great state of Georgia and brings dishonor to the State Legislature. I can only assume you have determined that someone must assume the void created by the death of the late Bobby Franklin (R-Marietta).

I call on you to withdraw from this suit or resign from office because you have failed to serve the interest of either your constituents, our beloved state or your own Political Party. We need serious people in Atlanta and you sir are not one of them.

    Without Respect.

What’s interesting to me is they don’t appear to have ANYTHING else to do?

Really, GAGOP…. nothing else, you got nothing else to work on?

Ok, well good to know this is your priority.
