Monday Morning Senate Update

As reported elsewhere, Gov. Sonny Perdue and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland are out.

However, my sources are telling me that Rep. Paul Broun is decidedly in, as he is currently interviewing Finance Staff for a Senate run.

That source also indicated that Karen Handel will be making a run for Tom Price’s House seat should he decide to run for Senate (which he will be doing).

Update: Jim Galloway is reporting that former Rep. Jim Marshall (D) is out as well.

Update Deux: Shirley Franklin blogged that she will not make the race.

She has statewide name recognition. Senator is a more powerful postion, arguably. And don’t forget that recent book deal.

To be clear, this post should not be construed as liking Karen Handel in any way. But at least there’s at least one woman making a serious run for Congress.

Sad to see Karen Handel settling for the lower post. ICYMI, Maggie Lee had a great article a few days ago about the “Glass Dome” under the gold dome.

Just spoke w/ Phil Gingrey, on his way to meet w/ Gov. Deal to discuss #GASen. Decision likely by next week. Says family “on board.” #gapol

Because we’ve not had enough of ignorant rape comments yet.
