Biden on Obama

Joe Biden on Barack Obama's fine personal hygiene:

Mr. Biden is equally skeptical--albeit in a slightly more backhanded way--about Mr. Obama. "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," he said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

I cannot improve on the Gawker.com snark: "It is a storybook! Can you imagine living in a world where African-Americans can speak properly, exhibit intelligence, and maintain personal hygiene? It's like something out of science fiction!"

Breaking news.. Biden is running for President..

Poor choice of word, but couldn't "clean" here have more to do with scandal and reputation? In that regard its rare to have a "clean" Presidential candidate, whether they are black, white, purple or whatever.

aww, chris. why d'ya have to go and ruin some perfectly good snark with over-analysis?

Posted by: PaulaG [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 12:24 PM

So all this time, I've needed to take a shower, and you guys never told me? Some friends you are. ;)

Sheesh - we saw Biden this morning - I think he's just jealous that Senator Obama still has his own hair and teeth.

I'd like the tooth whitening contract for all the presidential candidates. That would surely get me my house in the Pyrenees.

What exactly does "mainstream African-American" mean? I guess Biden is also dissing on Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson with that "mainstream" crap. I looove how White America loooves to typecast Black folks.

Posted by: Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 12:50 PM

I guarantee that Biden will be on the Jessie Jackson Show to "make right with Black America". Maybe he can ask Michael Richards for some advice on how to handle Jessie when he's pissed -http://www.keephopealiveradio.com/

Whitening? Think implants. (No, I'm not saying who.)

It is rare to have a candidate with a record unblemished by, say, charges of plagiarism.

Jesus. As if the "slave state" comment weren't bad enough.

Biden's quote n why he will fair well in the SC Primary: “Better than anybody else. You don't know my state. My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state is the eighth largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a northeast liberal state.”

It's on the UTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFduMuP7v-k

Biden '08, '12, then repeal the 22nd, '16, '20, and '24 when he will be 134.

You may have silenced me, Mel, but as you can see, you can't stop the cause. '08ing '08.

You've created a monster MEM.

Oh lord. That man is really going to make my life difficult, isn't he? :-(

(Then again, foot-in-mouth disease never stopped Dubyah)

IRE, what are you and MelGx's campaign platforms?

Posted by: Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 04:24 PM

When Biden announced his 2008 presidential candidacy in 2005 on Face The Nation, host Bob Schieffer asked the obvious question: Son, are you high?

"Actually, I am," admitted Biden. "High as a weather satellite as a matter of fact. Is it really that obvious?"

Biden says this extra lead time is necessary to mount the sort of forward-thinking campaign he wants to run. "Also, it's the best way I can raise some cash before it becomes apparent that I don't have a chance in hell in winning this thing," Biden said.

Now let's forward to January 2007 - yup, he's been doing some forward thinking since 2005. Asshat! - Benson can I call dumbass Democrats that term or is it only reserved for Republicans?

Oh, you know, just your general Pinko-commie positions.

I guess we'll see you guys in Iowa. I think Mel really likes waking up early, talking to hundreds of people, and walking through the snow in negative degree temperatures. Send us daily blogs and let us know how "Life on the Presidential Road with MelGx" is going for you. God speed and keep hope alive that you make it home safely.

Posted by: Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 04:54 PM

Maybe you'all can share a bus and plane with Bill Bolton...

Kill me now.

Posted by: MelGX [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 04:57 PM

I think "Vote for Ms. Angela" has an RV available for Dems. Tell us your departure date, so we can plaster the bus with homemade signs - MelGx is a big fan of folk art.

Posted by: Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 04:58 PM

IRE - this is why I exactly said "keep hope alive that you make it home safely" when your running partner makes comments like "Kill me now". If you understand Melanieism, she is really saying "I'm excited as all hell". Yup, that's what my secret decoder ring is decoding.

Posted by: Smitty [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 31, 2007 05:01 PM

MelGX you didn't know i had tapped you for my running mate did you? I did it to balance the ticket, I bring the sheer jackassery, and you bring the actual thought.

Biden apologizes - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16911044/

Fearing the political damage of his comments Wednesday night, Biden released a statement saying, "I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Sen. Obama."

I love Obama's response:
But late Wednesday, Obama released a statement seizing on Biden's use of the word "articulate."

"I didn't take Sen. Biden's comments personally, but obviously they were historically inaccurate," Obama said. "African-American presidential candidates like Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton gave a voice to many important issues through their campaigns, and no one would call them inarticulate."

WHOA! It looks like the IRE/MelGX dream team ticket just got more likely! http://www.u4prez.com/index.php
