Democrats Work

icon_dirt.gifWe've blogged about this great group before, but in case you missed it Democrats Work is a new organization co-founded by Jason Carter (Jimmy's grandson), that seeks to mobilize grassroots Democrats to perform community service projects. See their list of four goals here, read about their BOD here.

This month (Saturday, February 17th), they are calling for volunteers to help clean up Atlanta neighborhoods. Here's the scoop from co-founder Thomas Bates posted at DailyKos.

Calling the Work Crew:

Join the Georgia Democrats Work Crew and our friends at ACORN for a community cleanup event in three Atlanta neighborhoods on Saturday, February 17th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will work with neighborhood residents and other volunteers to cleanup communities with littering, illegal dumping, and other forms of blight.

Jen B., Aren't you down in Macon now? Maybe you could set up something similar down there....

Actually, it's Augusta.. but that's close enough. I'm gonna send this information to some local Dem leaders.

I'm going to try to get this going out in C-town. It is one of my goals to get the Newton Dems more active and more visible in the community and this is a perfect way. Plus, I really want one of the t-shirts.
