Flogs= fake blogs

A fascinating story wherein the worlds of Doug, Randy, Grayson and Tasso intersect.

Welcome To The Brave New World of Public Relations, by Doug Monroe for Georgia Trend:

Back in August, Atlanta writer, producer and blogger Grayson Hurst Daughters wrote an editorial for a local web site, Georgia Political Digest, about how impressed she was after meeting Wal-Mart executives who sought to assure neighbors about the new store opening at Howell Mill Road and I-75.

In October, she was surprised to find the editorial was reprinted on a web site titled “Georgia Families for Wal-Mart.” Then she was angered to learn that her words were part of an “Astroturf” controversy enveloping the public relations firm Edelman and its client, Wal-Mart. An Astroturf campaign is a carefully engineered public relations or political effort disguised to look like a grassroots movement.

The moral of the story? On the internet, credibility is king. Just ask womma.

Yeah, talk about having fallen down the day-is-night and night-is-day rabbit hole that is Edelman PR. I got out, but Edelman is now all up in City of Atlanta's business. Yet one more "area of concer" they've (Edelman) wormed their way into is (pro-bono) work on the campaign (by the City) to crack-down on child prostitution, surely a perfect area of concern for a company that specializes in fabricating lies and confusion for the general public to insert itself into, eh?

Ethics in PR? Who needs 'em here in Atlanta anymore?!
