Peak oil

Two Southside lawmakers want to derail the first leg of the Atlanta-to-Macon rail line before it gets started. Go read "We don't need no stinking transit" over at Peachtree Screed.

If it is any consolation, I am trying to get the Fayette Democratic Party to take on the issue of public transportation as a way of gaining a power base within the county. Sounds to me like a built-in opening. Anybody who knows somebody to help educate/organize them/us let me know.

Conservative Repub's like State Rep. Steve Davis
and GDOT Bd. members David Doss and Mike Evans
are fighting tooth and nail against rail, or any transit options at all, other than billion dollar road projects. And GA Dem's are silent...freaking silent.

A freaking $5 BILLION DOLLAR TUNNEL, and Dem's won't comment that it's f-ing idiotic??? OMG!

DuBose Porter, David Adelman, Calvin Smyre, all GA Dem state rep.'s and senators, etc: Stop acting like cowards and have some cajones. Call out Steve Davis, Jim Wooten, David Doss, Mike Evans, etc. Fight for rail and transit. Make a stand for once. We need a matrix of transportation options. Not everyone can drive. Working families need transit options.
If you can't be leaders, then we'll find people who can be.

All I have to say is "The Big Dig." Sounds to me like the Republican "lawmakers" have some friends that they want to get rich for the next 20+ years.
