The 10th Congressional District

icon_fish2.jpgAccording to the Augusta Chronicle, the following people are running:

State Senator Jim Whitehead (R-Evans)
State Representative Barry Fleming (R-Harlem)
State Senator Ralph Hudgens (R-Comer)
Former Athens Mayor Doc Elridge (Dino turned R)
Former Athens Commissioner Tom Chasteen (R)
Terry Holley (D-Thomson)
Whitehead and Fleming both reside in Columbia County, though in vastly different parts of it. What about Vince Dooley?
The name of former University of Georgia coach and athletic director Vince Dooley has also surfaced, but his wife, Barbara, who ran for the 12th Congressional District seat in 2002, said she can only speak for herself.

"I am not running," she said. "I am through with this mess, and Vince won't answer me. What does that tell you? I don't know."

With 5 Republicans spliting 67% of the vote, if Terry Holley can just hold the 33% of the vote he gets in November he could easily finish first in the first round of the special election. Then the two questions become, how much momentum would a fist place finish give Holley and would that showing be enough to convince the DCCC to pump in some real money?

I think we as Georgia Democrats should do what we can to help Terry improve on his 33% in the first round. The biggest difference is that he can campaign on the fact that he would go to Washington as a member of the majority party, making him the most powerful of the field when elected.

Why is Carol Jackson's name NOT on this list? Can we please field someone other than Terry Holley for heaven's sake!?

Carol's name is not on the list because she is not running.

Also, there is a good chance Terry may be our nominee, so we should refrain from "dissing" him in public. If people don't think he is the best, everyone has a right to their opinion, but it would be better to voice it to Winfred Dukes (Vice Chair of Candidate Recruitment) or someone at the DPG.

Furthermore, I would challenge people to at least talk to, have met Terry Holley before disparaging him.

Yea, no thanks on that one David. Patty P. is a friend of just about everyone who reads this blog. You know what we say here? Karma is a bitch.

Now, can someone please get Carol on the horn?

Carol's email address is carol@caroljacksoncampaign.com. I've already sent my "please run, God, we need you" email.
