YouTube of Working Families Day 2007
Glen Richardson may have given Georgia families and their friends the cold (freezing cold) shoulder by putting us out on the steps of the Atlanta City Hall, but we had a good crowd all the same, and it was a great event. I put together what I think of as my best YouTube attempt yet - check it out. Thanks to everyone who showed up - even Sharon Beasley-Teague was there ;-P

Thanks Benson, the video is GREAT.
And as I am seeing by a quote passed along to me from the InsiderAdvantage GA., "Johnson said he will be looking for feedback in coming weeks from senators whether to continue “family day” in the future and, if so, how to improve it." And of course the Johnson quoted is, Senator Eric Johnson, District 1, in Savannah, GA.
I guess we just are not recognized as Families in GA. Even though we are the Families that make GA. the great state that it is. They apparently think Family Day is for their Families. And I agree that they are part of it BUT, We are the real families of GA. The Working Families that pay the taxes that keep GA. working.
Again, it was a great event yesterday. Thanks to those that made Family Day happen. Some in our group got to see their State Senator and/or Representative for the 1st time in the State Capitol.
So they may or may not have Family Day again but whether we are or are not the Families they want to show up to the Capitol on Family Day, a session on a Saturday makes it convenient for those that work Monday through Friday to see the Legislative process and how our Government works.

Benson, this is fantastic. Thank you!
Tasso, whether or not the Republicans decide to host Family Day again for "their" families, we should institute Working Families Day as a yearly tradition from here forward. Let the Republicans continue (as they have done), to lock out the working families of Georgia. The people of Georgia need to see how Republicans put "family values" into practice.
Let's start planning now, for a huge rally and march in 2008. It's going to be our year.

2nd Mel's Call, this was a great opportunity for Working Families and the new Working Families Caucus in the General Assembly

Good work Tasso, I'm sorry we missed it. Thanks for posting the video Benson. We hate it that this labor family couldn't be there with everyone on "Family Day," but with a sick baby and a sick daddy (gow many goddamn times can you get bronchitis in one year!), we just couldn't do it.

We are very sorry that we couldn't make it, but as Bezerko said, we have had a sick little one on our hands and mommy wasn't about to let him out in the freezing cold! Carter was pissed too! He had a great sign - it would have said: My Daddy is a Teamster. We are a Labor Family. Why do you hate my family? <- I'm so proud of him.
