Great Kudzu Vine

Mostly Alabama this week.

Check out our The Kudzu Vine on BlogTalkRadio every Sunday at 7PM! A lively discussion about  Southern politics with yours truly and Tim, and our host Dave.

This past Sunday (5/30) we talked with Shelia Smoot, Democratic candidate for the 7th Congressional District of Alabama.  Ms Smoot will make a terrific congress woman.  She’s smart, energetic, and concerned about everyone in her district.

We also chatted with Martin Weinburg, of The Progressive Electorate, about other races in Alabama.

Of course, we filled out the hour talking about other topics related to southern politics.  Check us out on iTunes!  And don’t forget to tune in next week, Sunday at 7PM for a full hour of southern political talk.

Any chance the Kudzu vine will have Smoot’s run off opponent on? I gotta love a gal who gets endorsed by Feminist Majority PAC, EMILY’s List, and the National Organization for Women PAC, her name is Terry Sewell

From a recent article from MS Magazine
” Sewell graduated with honors from Princeton, received her Masters degree from Oxford University, and her JD from Harvard University. She has served as a judicial law clerk in Birmingham, Alabama, to the Honorable Chief Judge U.W. Clemon, United States District Court (AL-ND), Alabama’s first black federal judge. As a lawyer, she also did pro bono work on behalf of at-risk young women and homeless families. She has done extensive work in the area of domestic violence and assisted in establishing a Domestic Violence Court in Birmingham. Sewell is also pro-choice.

If either Sewell or Smoot is elected, they will be the first African American woman to represent Alabama in Congress. “
